The first time it was shown was May 2014. The ball started as a collection of all the materials left over in my studio, from 2 years, cut into strip and wound into a ball. Then woven onto a 8x10’ loom over the period of a week, then rolled back into a ball. The second time: It remains a ball on the floor with the beginning thrown over and hanging on a rafter at Silas Marders Gallery.
The original intention for this was a participatory maypole, October, 2014. It started as a ball with a pole reaching out of it. Anyone is welcome to sew, knit and add on to it. It has grown up a staircase and canopied out. Seems more like a fort now. I will wind it all back into a ball at the end of the show.
